Direct Voice Phenomenon (DVP)

Electronic Voice Phenomenon shouldn't be confused with Direct Voice Phenomenon (DVP). DVP is sometimes also referred to as an AVP, or Audible Voice Phenomena, but the terms are interchangeable.

DVPs are similar to EVPs in that they are disembodied voices that are heard during paranormal investigations, séances, or at a haunted location. The difference is that they are audible at the time and are spoken directly to the investigator or witness. No audio or electrical equipment is needed to hear a DVP because, by definition, they are heard in real time with nothing more than the human ear.

Direct voice phenomena are much more rare than EVPs, almost as rare as full-bodied apparitions, but it's not uncommon for people to report hearing laughter, cries, or even menacing voices shouting "get out" while at an allegedly haunted property.
