Can science shed any light on the age-old debate about life after death and the paranormal? Well, interestingly, it seems that scientists are using the exact same branch of science to support their conflicting arguments.

Cosmologist Sean Carroll thinks that quantum field theory proves that human consciousness cannot live outside the body after death, while British physicist Sir Roger Penrose says that this same branch of science proves that consciousness is a property of the universe and can live outside the body.

Sean Carroll is just one in a long line of scientists to make the outright claim that there is no such thing as an afterlife or ghosts. It's agreed upon that in order for there to be an afterlife, consciousness would need to be entirely separate from our physical body.
